Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done. (Philippians 4:6 NLT)
I saw my mother do it, and I swore I wouldn’t. But, some days…
Worry is the sweaty palm that slaps you senseless…the hand, white-knuckled with fear, that can choke the breath and mobility out of you…the tension-filled arm that distances you with doubt…pushing you farther and farther away…from the One…the only One who can snatch you from its grip and get you out. Faith, on the other hand, stretches itself heavenward to make its request…then rests on its back to receive its reward. Worry ties your hands in the battle. Faith gives you the victory.
What are you worrying and worrying about that God has already worked out? What are you working and working and working at trying to do, or figure out how to, that God has already done for you? When we work and worry instead of trust, we pay so much more than is required of us. Evenso, this is how we learn and grow, so in the future we can know that we can see God at God’s best when we allow ourselves to rest.
“…in quietness and trust is your strength.” Isaiah 30:15
